DEPARTMENT: Platform Economy
Platform economy, or a digital ecosystem, refers to a socio-technical system that has emerged through developments in digitalisation. Through the interaction of digital and technical systems, organisations, and people, added value is generated.
The collaboration of all participants is defined by the ecosystem service offered by the ecosystem initiator, who also establishes its rules. The ecosystem service provides the foundation for generating added value and is delivered exclusively in digital form.
The objectives of the department are:
- Developing and understanding organisations' positions on digital ecosystems.
- Generating knowledge about (potential) risks, innovation and change drivers, and their strategic implications, as well as conceptualising their implementation in/of digital ecosystems.
- Accompanying and supporting organisations/companies in connecting to existing ecosystems, as well as accompanying and supporting the conception and development of their own digital ecosystem.
- We help to reconsider company history and correctly assess the significance of innovative digital business models. As part of the analysis, we work together with companies to develop proposals for improving existing business models or creating new digital business models.
- We support organisations/companies in developing incremental to radical innovations with the aim of reviewing effectiveness and optimising efficiency and cost reduction, or creating entirely new services, products, or entire business areas.
- Establishing and expanding an expert network
