The Competence Center sees itself as a hub between research and teaching on the one hand, and business, politics and institutions on the other, with the aim of developing a comprehensive and holistic view in a resilient cooperation and interaction between the complex issues in the value chain: tourism, culture, creative industries and art.
In the area of tension between globalization, the economy, pandemics, climate change, digitalization and automation, the interest in a holistic view of the vulnerability of this supply chain and its networks.
The cultural and creative industries can offer possible resilient solutions to a number of growing challenges that are sustainable and can be supported by research and innovation activities.
These challenges are:
- Creativity, cultural diversity and values;
- Identity and cohesion;
- employment, economic resilience and smart growth, and
- Europe as a global player.
The creativity and cultural diversity of Austria and Europe also depend on resilient and robust cultural and creative sectors. Diese Sektoren stehen jedoch aufgrund des zunehmenden Wettbewerbs durch globale Akteure, des Klimawandels und der digitalen Transformation vor einer Reihe von Herausforderungen.
The development of risk-reducing strategies and resilience strategies require innovations in qualitative and quantitative concepts, models, methods and tools in the areas of risk assessment, modeling and simulation in order to determine the degree of resilience required at state and corporate level.
Technologies in the supply chain are increasingly of strategic importance as the backbone of supply chain optimization to ensure efficiency, security and profitability.
Our Competence Center has a network of experts for all important topics relating to the portfolio: Tourism, culture, creative industries and art.
The Competence Center’s tasks include:
- Positioning the competence center as a visible, accessible, reliable and credible source of information for this value chain.
- Analysis and conception for the realization of innovative applications
- Identifying and continuously evaluating (new) technologies for digital applications, taking climate change into account
- Development of methods for and analysis of threats, vulnerabilities and development of resilience strategies for this supply chain
- Research and development in the subject area and knowledge transfer
- Develop and disseminate best practices on a scientific basis through research, publishing and organizing/participating in congresses, symposia and seminars.
