CCDRD | COMPETENCE CENTER DISASTER RISK DIPLOMACY
The Center of Excellence acts as a clearing house between research on disaster risk diplomacy, disaster risk reduction in fragile states, and prevention tools on the one hand, and the operational realization of projects on the other.
It prepares approaches for national and international institutions dealing with disaster diplomacy and supports projects and research in the broader area of fragile contexts and disaster risk reduction, as this has been identified as a key issue in realizing the Sendai Framework.
The center provides technical support for disaster risk diplomacy projects and sees itself as a service center for organizations working on and in related issues. Recent research and experience will be incorporated into capacity building and training development, as well as impact strengthening even in fragile environments.
The tasks of the competence center are:
- Operationalization of the concept for disaster risk diplomacy
- Developing tools to break the cycle of disasters and conflict in fragile states.
- Realization of projects at the corner of disasters, crises and conflicts
- Training and capacity building to enable humanitarian and risk reduction projects in fragile environments.
- Support the realization of the United Nations SENDAI Framework Agreement and interface with international organizations.
