FIELD OF EXPERTISE: Risk Management Municipalities & Cities
Internal and external control systems have long been established in municipalities and cities. In addition, modern administrative management, analogous to private corporate management, requires adapted and adequate risk management.
The management of risks is one of the original tasks of a board member or a managing director, but also one of the heads and responsible persons of a public administration institution.
Due to the monopoly of the public administration, there is often a lack of awareness of the risks involved. In practice, the risks of a decision are only partially systematically recorded and assessed.
When managing risks, it is important to decide whether the yield is in proportion to the impending danger.
The objectives of the Risk Management Department for Municipalities & Cities are:
- Establishment of a uniform risk awareness
- Standardization of risk recording in municipal administration
- Qualification and quantification of the risks of a public administration
- Implementation of risk management in business processes
Possible topics that are covered within this section are:
- Risks of an outsourced company
- Risks in sovereign administration
- Risks in the private sector area of activity of a municipality
- Introduction of risk management systems in public administration
- Digitization of the RM processes
